“Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness” Joseph H Pilates

At Pilates Sanctuary we help people achieve pain- free flowing movement.

Pilates Sanctuary is home to a fully equipped Pilates Studio located at Balance Performance Physiotherapy London and provides Pilates Matwork classes in and around Clapham, London SW4.

Pilates is an exercise method that through a series of adaptable exercises on the mat and on specialised equipment focuses on creating a stable centre; joint mobility and stability; a fluid elongated spine; flowing functional movements and dynamic strength and flexibility, all of which work to restore the body to balance and to good functional movement whoever you are. The use of equipment and the way in which Pilates exercises and principles can be adapted make it a suitable method of exercise for everyone.

Established in 2006, Pilates Sanctuary specialises in rehabilitation, maternity care, working with dancers, and the older population and Pilates for wellbeing and fitness.

Pilates Sanctuary Matwork classes take place at Balance Performance Physiotherapy. They range from beginners classes for those completely new to Pilates or for those who need a refresher course to advanced classes for those who wish to work dynamically to improve their strength, stamina and flexibility. We also run post-natal classes where babies are welcome.

Pilates Sanctuary Studio classes take place in our intimate equipment studio in either small groups of 4 or 5 people or private sessions. These are perfect if you have a specific reason for starting Pilates, be that rehabilitation, pregnancy, to improve performance, or to simply gain a deeper understanding of your body and what it is capable of through Pilates.

All our teachers have completed an in-depth and intensive training with the Pilates Foundation and between them have many years of experience.

We work with many other professionals including physiotherapists, massage therapists, osteopaths, dance teachers and other practitioners to ensure an integrated holistic approach to the body, mind and movement.

We pride ourselves in placing the needs of the individual at the heart of our practice.
